A shoppers paradise, the various markets of Delhi offer a staggering array of goods ranging from the simplest of handicraft items to leading international brands.

Chandni Chowk (opposite Red Fort) is the famous Mughal period market. It is the city's most crowded but diverse market. It's small shops in the narrow lanes offer better bargain than any of the big showrooms elsewhere in the city. The Sadar Bazaar and the Khari Baoli are the largest wholesale markets of northern India. - Sunday closed.

Connaught Place (C.P.) is famous for department stores and big showrooms. Between the radial roads leading to Janpath and Baba Kharak Singh Marg is the underground market, Palika Bazaar where 400 shops sell a wide range of products. Exactly opposite Palika Bazaar on the outskirts of C.P. is the Khadi Gramodyog Bhawan where one can find at down to earth prices readymade garments in hand woven khadi cotton and silk, fabrics and handmade paper. The State Government Emporiums, located on the Baba Kharak Singh Marg, offer a glimpse of handicrafts and provide detailed tourist information about the respective States. Another emporium which offers a rich glimpse into Indian Handicrafts is the Central Cottage Industries Emporium on Janpath. The road side shops on Janpath offer a great bargaining experience. Also along Janpath are stalls where one can find readymade garments, embroideries from Gujarat and Rajasthan and Tibetans selling jewellery and ritual objects. - Tuesday closed.

Another major attraction is the Dilli Haat set up by Delhi Tourism. An upgraded version of the traditional haat (periodic market), it offers delightful combination of delicacies from all parts of India; craft, and food and cultural activities.
