JANTAR MANTAR
| Situated on Sansad Marg near Connaught Place, this unique astronomical observatory was constructed in 1724 A.D. by Raja Jai Singh of Jaipur. Surrouned by stately palm trees, the observatory consists of six curiously shaped huge masonary structures which were used not only to study and observe the location, movement and phenomenon of celestial bodies and the stars but also to predict eclipses. The huge Sundial, shaped like a right-angled triangle, is said to be accurate within two seconds. |
